Chloride Zinc Plating System

Zn-835 water - soluble acid zinc plating brightener

 

The use and characteristics: 

1. The process economic savings , can be obtained in acidic galvanizing bright, leveling and flexibility very good coating. 

2. Good temperature rise tolerance, up to 49 ℃ , low foam, and strong air stirring can be used. 

3. The plated zinc layer crystallization induced adhesion ﹑ containing less organic impurities, acceptable color passivation and blue, a strong corrosion resistance.

4. Both rack plating and barrel plating are suitable.

Bathing method:

1) Add 3/4 of the prepared volume of 50-60℃ hot water to the preparation tank, then add the required amount of zinc chloride and potassium chloride, and stir until dissolved.

2) Put the required amount of boric acid in another container, add 10 times the hot water above 80℃, stir well to dissolve it completely, then pour the boric acid solution into the preparation tank and mix it with the above plating solution.

3) Add clean water to the specified volume, add 1-2g/L zinc powder, stir well for 1-2h, and filter the plating solution after standing still for 1-2h to remove precipitation.

4) Dilute the required amount of brightener with water 3-5 times. After the plating solution has cooled to room temperature, slowly add it to the plating solution under constant stirring. Do not add the brightener when the plating solution is hot.

5) Use a pH meter to measure the pH of the plating solution, and adjust the pH to the process range with reagent grade hydrochloric acid or potassium hydroxide. When using hydrochloric acid or potassium hydroxide to adjust the pH value, first dilute the hydrochloric acid or potassium hydroxide to a 10% solution, and then slowly add it to the plating solution under strong stirring conditions, and avoid adding too fast.

6) Use the cathode current density of 0.1-0.2A/dm 2 to electrolyze for about 4 hours and then test the plating. If the quality of the raw materials is good and the preparation method is appropriate, it is also possible to test plating directly without electrolytic treatment. After the trial plating is qualified, it can be put into formal production.

 

Supplement and maintenance:

1 , Due to the loss during production, it is usually only necessary to add potassium chloride and boric acid. When the amount of boric acid is less, it will increase the scorching in the high current area; the less chloride ion will reduce the brightness, leveling and covering power of the low current area. Therefore, it is recommended to make up the above two points from time to time. The supplement of zinc metal is normally maintained when the anode is decomposed. 99.99% pure zinc plate is the best source of zinc metal. But sometimes if the anode precipitation is insufficient during operation, it is recommended that you add zinc chloride to make up for the lack of zinc content.

2 , a Zn-835 zinc brightener consumption based on iron bath with the amount of impurities and the different consumption was: 150-200 mL / KAH

3 , a Zn-838 zinc softening agent mainly lost out, and the failure of insoluble iron ions consumed. The consumption is: 100-200 mL/ KAH (barrel plating), 50-100 mL/ KAH (rack plating). For carry-out loss, add 200ml softener for every 1 kg of potassium chloride .

As each electroplating production line equipment and processing parts are different, it is best to conduct a small batch trial production for a period of time to determine the best adding ratio of brightener and softener.

5 The main pollution present in all zinc chloride electroplating baths is iron. This pollution is controlled by air agitation while filtering the solution. Suggested addition: add 250-500ml of hydrogen peroxide per 1000 liters of plating solution to remove the dissolved iron in the bath. The hydrogen peroxide should be diluted with water to 50% before adding it to the bath.
