A customer inquired about the issue during the production process of using elestroless nickel solution. Originally, the addition amount of the plating solution was 2 liters per hour. When the addition amount was increased to 3 liters, could it be sufficient to add it twice every 3 hours?
Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the product elestroless nickel solution Ni-809, Bigley Technology conducted an analysis and found that the replenishment amount of the plating solution cannot exceed the upper limit. Normal replenishment should be carried out according to the consumption amount. This replenishment method that exceeds the upper limit has the following four effects on the plating solution:
1. The deposition rate of the coating is inconsistent. As the concentration of nickel ion and Sodium hypophosphite in the plating solution is relatively high, the deposition rate of the coating will be relatively fast when just adding, and then the deposition rate will gradually decline to a slower deposition rate than normal. If the chemical solution is added for a long time, due to the large deviation in the deposition rate of the workpiece coating, the deposition rate of the workpiece coating cannot be accurately estimated.
2. The stability of the plating solution is poor. The reaction speed of the plating solution is very fast when it is first added, and then gradually decreases to a very slow speed. Therefore, due to the large deviation in the reaction speed of the plating solution, the stability of the plating solution will quickly deteriorate.
3. The service life of the plating solution will be shortened. Due to the poor stability of the plating solution, nickel powder is easily generated in the plating solution when the reaction speed is fast, which accelerates the spontaneous reaction of the plating solution, shortens its service life, and causes the plating solution to be scrapped in advance.
4. The amount of medicine added will increase. Due to the deterioration of the stability of the plating solution, the consumption of the solution will gradually increase, and more solution needs to be added to maintain balance. This will gradually increase the amount of solution added, thereby increasing production costs.
So, in the production process of using elestroless nickel plating additive, we need to regularly analyze the plating solution and add it normally, instead of adding the solution beyond the upper limit, to extend the service life of the plating solution and save production costs.
