The galvanized blue and white passivation process is widely used in corrosion prevention applications, however, sometimes the process fails to pass the 96-hour salt spray test, which has caused a lot of concern in the industry. One of the main reasons for this problem is the quality of the passivation solution.

Passivation solution is an important medium for galvanizing blue-white passivation, which significantly improves the corrosion resistance of the coating by forming a passivated film layer on the surface of the galvanized layer. The formulation and quality of the passivation solution play a vital role in the formation and performance of the passivation film on the zinc layer. First of all, improper concentration of the main components in the passivate solution affects the denseness and uniformity of the passivate film.

Second, excessive impurity content in the passivation solution is also a key issue. When impurity ions, such as iron ions and copper ions, accumulate too much in the passivation solution, they can form defects in the passivation film, forming a source of corrosion and leading to a decrease in corrosion resistance. In addition, changes in operating conditions such as temperature, pH and treatment time can significantly affect the quality of the passivation film.

To improve the corrosion resistance of the blue-white zinc passivation process, the following aspects should be taken into account: (i) use of Bigely zinc blue-white passivate, regular monitoring of the composition of the passivate to keep the concentration of the main components in the appropriate range while minimizing the presence of impurity ions; and (ii) optimization of the passivation process parameters to ensure that the process of passivation film formation takes place under ideal conditions. Through these measures, the quality of the passivation film can be improved, thereby enhancing its corrosion resistance and ensuring that it passes the 96-hour salt spray test.
