In the zinc plating production process using potassium chloride zinc plating additive, sometimes after the workpiece is color passivated, the appearance becomes too colorful. What causes this?

According to the field experience and the characteristics of the product potassium chloride zinc plating additive BZ-528, Bigolly Technology has made analysis, mainly for the following three reasons:

    1. The quality of potassium chloride zinc plating additive used is poor. There are some additives on the market, the price is relatively cheap, but the quality of the zinc coating obtained is poor, which will affect the passivation effect when passivating, resulting in uneven passivation color, brilliant and other problems.

    2. The content of metal impurities in the passivation solution of colored zinc is high.Generally, during the use of passivation solution, the content of metal impurities shall not exceed the process range. For example, iron impurities shall not exceed 30ppm, otherwise the passivation film will become yellow and foggy. Therefore, the color zinc passivator should be selected with high tolerance of impurities (such as Bigolly's trivalent chromium color zinc passivator BZ-208, and the tolerance of iron impurities is 80ppm), and should be updated partially or completely regularly to reduce the impact of impurities.

    3. Formulation of passivating agent for color zinc. Some color zinc passivating agents on the market are still old formulas, and the newly prepared passivating solution is in normal production. However, after a period of use, the sulfate content in the passivating solution is high, which will affect the color effect of the passivating film, making the passivating film of the workpiece very colorful.

Therefore, in the production process of using potassium chloride zinc plating additive, the appearance color of the workpiece after passivation is too colorful, and these three reasons can be considered for troubleshooting. If you are interested in potassium chloride zinc plating additive, please contact the Bigolly customer service for free samples and detailed technical information!
