In the production process of using chromium plating additives, the plating solution is more sensitive to impurities. When the impurity content is high, it will affect the brightness of the coating and the performance quality of the coating. So what are the impurities that affect the plating solution?

Bigolly Technology made an analysis based on the field experience and the characteristics of the product's chromium plating additives Cr-9,There are mainly three kinds of impurities:

    1. Metal impurities. The harmful impurities in the chromium plating solution are mainly iron, copper, zinc, nickel and so on.The main sources of these metal impurities are the dissolution of the metal in the uncovered parts of the workpiece, the dissolution of the workpiece when the workpiece falls into the plating tank and is not salvaged in time, and the corrosion of anode materials. These metal impurities will affect the conductivity of the plating solution, so that the dispersion ability and deep plating ability of the plating solution will decrease, and the bright current density of the plating layer will be narrowed.

    2. Chloride ions.Chromium plating solution is sensitive to chloride ion, and the allowable value is below 0.3g/L.The main sources of chloride ions are the introduction of the production water for preparing the bath, and the introduction of the plating parts into the plating solution due to incomplete cleaning before plating. When the chloride ion content in the plating solution is high, the current efficiency and coverage of the plating solution will be reduced, and the coating will have graying, blooming, pinholes and other phenomena, thereby reducing the corrosion resistance of the coating.

    3. Nitrate ions. The presence of a small amount of nitrate ions in the bath can make the coating appear gray-black and also damage the lead lining of the bath. When the nitrate ion content in the bath reaches 1 g/L, the cathode current density needs to be increased to deposit the chromium layer.

Therefore, when we use chrome plating additives in the production, since the concentration of impurities in the plating solution is constantly accumulating, we must strengthen the maintenance and management of the plating solution, and regularly remove impurities from the plating solution to reduce the impact of impurities. If you are interested in chrome plating additives, please contact Bigolly customer service to get free samples and detailed technical information!
