In the production process of using methanesulfonic acid matte tin additive, we should strictly control the parameters of each process condition, so that the tin plating layer has the characteristics of fine crystallization, good solderability, simple maintenance and low consumption, and can reliably meet customer needs. In the production process, what effect does each process condition have on the tinning process?

Bigolly Technology made an analysis based on the field experience and the characteristics of the product's methanesulfonic acid matte tin additive Sn-818,There are mainly 5 points:

    1. Sn2+.Sn2+ is the main salt of the plating solution, which is mainly provided by the dissolution of tin methanesulfonate and tin anode.Increasing the Sn2+ concentration in the plating solution can increase the current density of the plating solution, but at a lower temperature, the dispersion of the plating solution is likely to decrease, resulting in uneven thickness distribution of the plating layer.Increasing the Sn2+ concentration in the plating solution can increase the current density of the plating solution, but at a lower temperature, the dispersion of the plating solution is likely to decrease, resulting in uneven thickness distribution of the plating layer.

    2. Methanesulfonic acid.Appropriately increasing the concentration of methanesulfonic acid can improve the dispersibility of the plating solution. However, if the concentration of methanesulfonic acid is too high, the current efficiency of the cathode will be reduced, resulting in hydrogen evolution at the cathode.

    3. Methanesulfonic acid matte tin additive.Appropriate additives can obtain a coating with fine crystals and uniform thickness, and can also inhibit the formation of tin whiskers, slow down the oxidation of Sn2+ to Sn4+, and stabilize the plating solution. When the additive content is insufficient, the quality of the plating layer will decrease, and the plating solution will be cloudy. When the additive content is too high, there will be serious hydrogen evolution at the cathode and a decrease in current efficiency.

    4. The temperature of the plating solution.Increasing the bath temperature can increase the current density range; lowering the bath temperature, the current efficiency will also decrease. When the temperature of the bath is too high, the additives in the bath are easy to decompose and fail, the oxidation resistance of the bath decreases, and Sn2+ is easily oxidized to Sn4+, which makes the bath turbid.

    5. Current density.Generally, the current density should be controlled within the process range. When the current density is too high, the coating will be loose and rough and easy to burn; when the current density is low, the deposition rate of the coating will be too low.

Therefore, in the production process of using methanesulfonic acid matte tin additive, we should control the process conditions within the normal range to reduce the occurrence of failures. If you are interested in methanesulfonic acid matte tin additive, please contact Bigolly customer service to get free samples and detailed technical information!
