During the process of using acid copper brighteners, oxidation and discoloration often occur on the plating layer of the workpiece, which will affect the subsequent plating quality. So what causes the oxidation discoloration of the plating layer?

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the product acid copper brightener Cu-510, Bigley Technology has analyzed the following three main points:

1. Excessive brightener Cu-510B in the plating solution. Brightener Cu-510B can refine the crystallization of the coating, improve the dispersion ability in the low current region, and improve the brightness and leveling performance in the high and middle regions. When the brightener Cu-510B is excessive, the low area presents a cloud like deposition or obvious bright "fault" phenomenon, and the coating is prone to oxidation and discoloration. When the brightener Cu-510B is excessive, the concentration of the brightener Cu-510B can be reduced by consumption, hydrogen peroxide treatment, or carbon powder treatment of the plating solution.

2. Excessive content of organic impurities in the plating solution. In plating solutions using Cu-510, when the content of decomposition products of additives and organic impurities such as grease in the plating solution is high, it can lead to rough and brittle plating layers, and it is also prone to oxidation and discoloration. Therefore, during the production process, the plating solution should be regularly cleaned to reduce the impact of impurities on the plating solution.

3. After the workpiece is plated with acid copper, due to power failure or equipment failure, the workpiece remains in the air for a long time, and the coating undergoes oxidation and discoloration. During the production process, it is necessary to minimize the time that the workpiece stays in the air after exiting the slot to avoid oxidation and discoloration of the workpiece, which may affect the subsequent nickel plating quality.

Therefore, in the process of using acid copper brighteners, the above three points should be noted, and the maintenance and management of the plating solution should be strengthened to avoid oxidation and discoloration of the workpiece coating, which may affect production quality.
