In general, a high pH will result in a thin and easily uneven passivation film with a yellow color. This is because the dissolution of zinc and the dissolution rate of the passivation film increases at high pH, making it difficult to form a uniform thickness of the film. On the contrary, when the pH value is too low, the passivation film is prone to blackening and peeling off, this is because the chemical reaction in the passivation solution is inhibited at low pH, making it difficult to form a stable passivation film.
