In the trivalent chromium colored zinc passivation process, the quality of the plating solution plays a crucial role in the quality of the passivated film layer formed. Among other things, the high content of heterometallic impurities such as copper, divalent iron and zinc ions is one of the main reasons for fogging failures in the film layer.
The accumulation of copper impurities in the plating solution to a certain concentration will adversely affect the formation of the passivation film. Copper ions will react with other components in the passivation solution to form water-insoluble compounds, which adhere to the surface of the coating layer, resulting in roughness of the surface of the coating layer, which in turn triggers the fogging phenomenon. In addition, the presence of copper ions may damage the uniformity and density of the passivation film, reducing its corrosion resistance.
In response to these problems, it is especially important to choose a good colored zinc passivator. Bigely colored zinc passivator BZ-208 performs well in this respect. Its formulation allows the passivator to have a wide pH range and good stability, which effectively avoids the influence of foreign metal impurities on the quality of the passivate film. At the same time,BZ-208 is able to form a uniform, dense and brightly colored passivate film, which is not prone to fogging.
