Insoluble anodes are mainly used in plating solutions where it is not possible to use soluble anodes, such as in the hard chrome plating process. In the production process using hard chrome additives, there are two main reasons why plating plants cannot use soluble anodes: first, the current efficiency of the anode greatly exceeds that of the cathode, which is close to 100%, while the cathodic current efficiency of chrome plating is only about 13%, so that if a soluble anode is used, the chromium ions in the plating solution will quickly increase to the point that it exceeds the process specifications, resulting in the plating solution failing to work properly.
In hard chrome plating production, if you want to ensure the quality of the plating layer, on the one hand, you need to choose a good anode plate, on the other hand, you also need to use a good hard chrome additives, compared with the traditional chrome plating process, after adding Bigely hard chrome additive Cr-2, it can increase the cathodic current efficiency of the plating solution from 13% to 24-26%, which is twice as much as reflected in the large-scale production, that is, it can improve the production efficiency, and also Cr-2 is fluoride-free and does not corrode in the low current density zone of the substrate and is non-corrosive to the anode, which means a smoother production process and no contamination of the bath with impurities.
