A friend is constantly experiencing burning in the high current area of the workpiece produced during the use of acid copper brightener, which is very frustrating. What is the reason for this phenomenon?

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the product acid copper brightener Cu-510, Bigley Technology has analyzed the following five main points:

1. The concentration of the main components in the plating solution is relatively low. The concentration of copper sulfate is low, the fault current density is low, the cathode current efficiency is low, and the workpiece is easy to burn in the high current area. When the concentration of sulfuric acid is low, the resistance of the plating solution is high, the plating ability of the plating solution is poor, and the coating of the workpiece is relatively rough, which is easy to burn.

2. If the cathode current density is too high or the distance between the cathode and anode is too close, and the current parameters of the workpiece exceed the process range, the coating obtained by the workpiece will be rough and burnt. During the production process, the current density of the cathode should be controlled and the distance between the cathode and anode should be adjusted.

3. The temperature of the plating solution is too low. When the plating solution temperature is low, the working current density is low, copper sulfate is easy to precipitate, the workpiece coating is rougher, and it is easy to burn in high current areas.

4. The mixing method is unreasonable. In the acid copper process, cathode movement or compressed air should be used to stir the plating solution, while air stirring cannot be used when adding sodium dodecyl sulfate to the plating solution, otherwise the workpiece coating will be rough and burnt.

5. The proportion of additives in the plating solution is out of balance. When the content of Cu-510Mu or Cu-510B in the plating solution is insufficient, the brightness and flatness of the coating are poor, and the coating is rougher than before. In high current areas, it will appear dendritic and the edges are easy to burn. At this point, the problem can be solved by adding Cu-510Mu or Cu-510B appropriately to the plating solution.

Therefore, in the process of using acid copper brightener, the workpiece often burns in the high current area. We should pay attention to the above five points, and handle the fault as soon as possible to reduce the loss of the fault.
