In the high-speed tin plating process with methanesulfonic acid, burnishing of the plated layer is a common problem, which not only affects the aesthetics of the plated layer, but also may lead to a deterioration of the performance of the plated layer. Scorching of the plated layer is usually caused by high current density, electrolyte composition imbalance or improper operation control. In the high-speed tin methanesulfonate plating process, high current density operation will lead to localized overheating of the plated surface, which makes the plated layer quality deteriorate, and even the phenomenon of scorching occurs. In addition, improper ratio of chemical components in the plating solution, such as too high or too low concentration of tin methanesulfonate, as well as inappropriate concentration of methanesulfonic acid, will increase the risk of scorching of the plated layer.
