Characteristics of alkaline zinc-nickel alloy process

The alkaline zinc-nickel alloy plating process is widely used in demanding environments such as automotive parts and the aerospace industry due to its excellent corrosion resistance and dispersion capabilities.

Alkaline zinc-nickel alloy plating has a wide current range and is capable of maintaining uniform plating thickness and nickel content distribution at different current densities. This feature makes the alkaline process particularly suitable for plating workpieces with complex shapes and uneven current density distribution.

In practice, alkaline zinc-nickel alloy coatings may also suffer from scorching, which is mainly due to the composition of the plating solution, operating conditions and improper use of additives. In order to avoid this problem, it is important to use the right additives. Bigely alkaline zinc-nickel additive BZ-617 is an effective solution. The additive stabilizes the current distribution and prevents excessive accumulation of metal ions on the electrode surface, thus avoiding scorching of the plated layer. Characteristics of acid zinc-nickel alloy process

Acid zinc-nickel alloy plating processes offer higher current efficiencies and faster deposit rates than alkaline processes. Acid processes are typically capable of current efficiencies of around 90%, with an upper limit of deposition speeds of more than 1.0 micrometer/minute. This gives the acid process a clear advantage in terms of productivity.
