In the process of using chromium plating additives, sometimes the content of trivalent chromium in the plating solution will increase, resulting in the workpiece coating rough, dark, poor brightness and other problems. So how do we reduce the content of trivalent chromium in the bath?
According to the field experience and the characteristics of chromium plating additives, Bigolly Technology has made analysis. In fact, the reasons for the increase of trivalent chromium content in the plating solution are:1. If the anode area is too small, the anode area should be 2-3 times of the cathode area;2. The content of metal impurities in the plating solution is too high;3. Some anodes do not conduct electricity. When the trivalent chromium content in the plating solution is high, the workpiece coating will appear dark, poor brightness, roughness and other phenomena, and the range of bright current density will become smaller.
However, there are many trivalent chromium treatment agents on the market, which can not reduce the trivalent chromium content in the plating solution.Bigley suggests that customers can treat the plating solution by large anode and small electrolysis:Use a fine iron bar as the cathode, the anode area is 10~30 times of the cathode, and conduct electrolysis according to the anode current density of 1.5~2.0A/dm2 until the content of trivalent chromium is within the process range.During electrolysis, check whether the anode plates are conductive, and analyze whether the sulfuric acid content in the plating solution is within the normal range. If the sulfuric acid content is high, it should be reduced to the normal range first, because the higher sulfuric acid content will seriously affect the electrolysis effect, resulting in the difficult reduction of trivalent chromium content.
Therefore, when using chromium plating additives, we can use the above methods to reduce the content of trivalent chromium, and strengthen the maintenance and management of the plating solution to avoid the impact on production due to the subsequent rise of trivalent chromium content. If you are interested in chromium plating additives, please contact the Bigolly customer service for free samples and detailed technical information!
