Do you know why wastewater containing zinc-nickel alloy brighteners is difficult to treat?
In zinc-nickel alloy plating solutions, a large amount of sodium hydroxide combines with zinc ions to form complex zinc ions, which can enhance the electrical conductivity of the plating solution. Since nickel ions can form nickel precipitates under alkaline conditions, and the complexing agent in zinc-nickel alloy brighteners can form coordination bonds with nickel ions, the complexing agent can enhance cathodic polarization and refine the crystallization of the coating.
In the production process of zinc-nickel alloys, the wastewater containing zinc-nickel alloy brighteners has a rather complex composition. This kind of wastewater is weakly alkaline and contains zinc ions, nickel ions and organic complexing agents. Organic complexing agents will combine with nickel ions to produce complexing molecules. Due to their high stability coefficient, even if alkali is directly added to this wastewater, it is impossible to generate precipitates to treat nickel and zinc.
