Why is it not advisable to increase the temperature of the acid tin plating bath to the highest level, but rather to keep it within a certain range? What effects will different types of impurities in the plating solution have? Understanding these issues will help electroplating factories maintain the solution properly during production and achieve the desired coating quality.
Liquid temperature
The upper limit of the temperature range for the brightening solution (with the addition of the acid tin brightener Sn-807) should not exceed 20℃. It is best to keep it at around 15℃. If the temperature is too high, it may result in poor brightness at low current density areas, affecting the product qualification rate. To maintain the normal liquid temperature, electroplating factories need to be equipped with cooling equipment.
Based on this, the technical team of Bigely would set the appropriate temperature range when developing the acid tin plating brightener. This ensures that the electroplating factory can obtain a bright, smooth and uniform coating.
Impurities
When the divalent tin ions are oxidized, they form fine and non-filterable tin oxides (which we commonly refer to as tetravalent tin), which are suspended in the plating solution. Therefore, continuous filtration is necessary to remove particles larger than 5 microns in size in order to prevent the formation of pitting on the coating.
