In the previous article, we mentioned that zinc die-castings need to undergo pre-plating treatment before entering other common electroplating processes for functional thickening electroplating. So what kind of process should be chosen to be appropriate? Then, how should one choose the appropriate pyrophosphate copper brightener?
Since any coating has pores to varying degrees, especially thin coatings have a higher porosity, and considering the porous nature of zinc die-castings, when choosing a general electroplating process for thickening zinc die-castings, it is best to select a nearly neutral plating solution, that is, a weakly alkaline plating solution.
The more suitable plating type is pyrophosphate copper plating process.
Pyrophosphate copper plating process has good dispersion ability and fine crystallization of the coating, making it suitable for plating molds (as molds are generally complex in shape and require deep plating ability of the plating solution). However, the plating speed will be relatively slow. You can add conductive salts (in appropriate amounts) and lower the pH value of the plating solution to improve efficiency. However, at low pH values, the coating is relatively rough. Therefore, Bigely pyrophosphate copper brightener Cu-203 is needed to improve the quality of the coating.
