In the application process of zincate galvanizing additives, there is a procedure called anodic electrolysis before galvanizing. It is the electro-degreasing process when the workpiece is placed at the anode during degreasing. So, what are the characteristics of anode electrolysis?
The surface of the workpiece is very clean after electrolysis. Cationic impurities in the electrolyte will not deposit on the anode. If the steel parts have been acid-washed first, the residual black ash of iron carbide on their surfaces will also be removed completely after anode electrolysis.
2. The speed of anodic oil removal is slower than that of cathodic oil removal. The reason is that the volume of oxygen produced at the anode is half that of hydrogen at the cathode. Therefore, when the same amount of electricity is introduced, less gas is produced, and its stirring effect and the tearing and crushing effect on the oil film are also weaker. Oxygen evolution on the anode consumes OH-, and the pH value in the liquid layer at the workpiece interface drops, which is not conducive to the saponification reaction. Oxygen bubbles are larger in volume than hydrogen bubbles, have a weaker ability to remain on the surface of the workpiece, and thus have a weaker effect of carrying oil droplets up.
3. There may be anodic corrosion and oxidation problems in the substrate. After the anodic degreasing of steel parts, under normal circumstances, the formed oxide film is in a passive state and does not corrode. However, metals that are difficult to passivate, such as aluminum, zinc, tin, lead, copper and copper alloys, will be corroded due to the dissolution of the anode. After the anodic degreasing of red copper parts, the surface oxidation will form black copper oxide.
