The influence of excessive use of nickel plating brightener on the plating solution and coating

In the production process of nickel electroplating brightener, the brightener mainly serves to control the brightness of the coating and fill it. However, sometimes excessive use of brightener can have an impact on the plating solution and the coating.

Based on on-site experience and the characteristics of the products, Bigely Technology conducted experimental analysis. The main impacts of excessive use of brighteners are as follows:

1. In the medium and low current density areas, the coating is very thin or there is no coating at all. The coating is rather dark and lacks luster, with a distinct mist phenomenon.

2. The coating in the high current density area is prone to peeling and cracking, and the coating will turn blue. During the Hel bath test, the coating will curl outward.

3. The coating may show signs of yellowing, fogging and mottling. Some coatings may fall off in flakes, resulting in very poor appearance quality.

4. When the workpiece is taken out of the bath after nickel plating, some parts have no water film, that is, the workpiece is not fully wetted.
