During the production process, if workpieces fall into the galvanizing tank and are not removed in time, it will lead to an increase in iron impurities in the galvanizing solution. At this point, Fe2+, Fe(OH)+, Fe3+, Fe(OH)2+, etc. will form complexes with some components of the plating solution that have coordination ability, increasing the consumption of acidic galvanizing additives in the plating solution.
Especially Fe3+ ions are prone to form flocs in the plating solution, which not only increases the resistance of the plating solution, raises the bath pressure, and prevents the current from rising, but also slows down the deposition rate of galvanized workpieces. Moreover, these flocculent substances will adsorb a large amount of brightener additives from the plating solution, which is the main reason for the high consumption of brightener components during the production process.
The workpieces that fall into the galvanizing bath dissolve in the bath. When the content of iron impurities in the plating solution exceeds 500mg/L, it is very easy for them to oxidize and form Fe(OH)3 suspended precipitates, which adhere to the surface and inner cavity of the workpieces, directly affecting the performance of the additives. The brightness of the coating surface will decrease, and the thickness of the galvanized layer and the quality of the passivation film on the workpiece will also decline. This is also the reason why the appearance quality and corrosion resistance of the workpiece have deteriorated.
