When we use nickel electroplating brighteners, the product manual will classify them into softeners and brighteners. So, what benefits can the combined use of these two bring to electroplating production? Overall, there are four benefits.
① Even with a wide range of current densities, a fully bright coating can be produced. The nickel plating brightener Ni-301 has a broad bright current density range of 0.5A/dm ² to 8A/dm ². The concave parts of complex components can be fully brightened, while the high current density areas will not be scorched.
② The negative shift of the cathode potential is smaller than that when the brightener (secondary brightener) is used alone. Compared with the plating solution without nickel plating additives, the cathode potential is approximately negatively shifted by 20mV to 30mV.
③ After using the nickel plating brightener Ni-301 in accordance with the proportion of each agent in the instruction manual, it is beneficial to adjust the stress of the coating well, reducing the original tensile stress of the coating to zero. In this way, the obtained coating has excellent ductility.
④ The coating obtained from Watt nickel plating solution without nickel plating additives has a columnar structure. The coating obtained by adding softener alone has a layered structure. The coating structure obtained by adding brightener alone is different. Some coatings present a layered structure, while others present a columnar structure. However, the coating obtained by using softener and brightener in combination always has a layered structure.
