During the application of acid tin plating brightener, how should one operate and manage? By mastering the control of cathode current density and stirring, more than 90% of plating failures can be avoided.
Cathode current density
The control of these process parameters needs to be determined based on the actual conditions of tin ion concentration, liquid temperature, stirring, and brightener. However, generally speaking, by controlling the cathode current density within the range of 0.5 to 5 amperes per square decimeter, a bright coating can be obtained.
Generally speaking, if the concentration of metal ions is high, the range of cathode current density will be wide. Taking the acidic tin plating brightener Sn-807 as an example: after adding Sn-807, the bath for tin plating (with tin metal content of 15 grams per liter) is 0.5 to 3.5 amperes per square decimeter; the bath for roll plating (with tin metal content of 10 grams per liter) is 0.5 to 1 ampere per square decimeter.
Stirring (cathode movement)
To prevent the formation of marks and uneven brightness when the gas passes through the coating surface, the electroplating factory needs to stir the plating solution. Air stirring would cause the plating solution to become cloudy white, so air stirring cannot be used. During the application of the acidic tin plating brightener Sn-807, mechanical stirring should be carried out using the movement of the cathode.
