Electroless copper plating is currently the most widely used type of electroless coating in the world. It is extensively applied in the metallization of various non-conductors, in-hole metallization of various printed circuit boards, and electromagnetic shielding of radio body casings. This is mainly due to the fact that modern electroless copper plating additives have the characteristics of low cost, stable plating solution, good adhesion between the coating and non-conductors, good electrical conductivity of the coating, high toughness, excellent solderability and electromagnetic shielding effect.
Modern electroless thick copper plating processes (such as Bigely electroless copper plating additives) have been able to provide bright, high-speed and good physical properties (such as ductility, electrical conductivity, solderability) thick copper layers, with a deposition rate of up to 7 microns per hour. They can be directly used for in-hole metallization of double-sided and multi-sided printed circuit boards, and the copper layers inside the holes already have sufficient thickness. Subsequently, copper can be directly electroplated without the need for the internal copper plating process after metallization within the hole.
