To enhance the stability of the electroless copper plating solution, based on our years of production experience, we have identified four methods. These will be presented in two parts. In this article, we will introduce the other two methods.
Keep the work area clean
A dedicated electroless plating tank is used. This is to prevent the deposition of the electroless copper plating layer on the tank walls. If any plating layer is found to have deposited during production, the operators of the electroplating factory must immediately clean it. After cleaning, it can be used for electroless copper plating again.
So, how can we remove the copper from the slot walls? We suggest using dilute nitric acid for immersion. If the electroplating factory has the conditions, it is recommended to use oil-free pumps and circulating filtration pumps to keep the solution clean and prevent the introduction of organic substances.
Maintain the plating solution within the normal process specifications
In some electroplating factories, when using the electroless copper plating solution, in order to increase the plating speed, they may choose to increase the concentration of divalent copper ions and formaldehyde. However, doing so may affect the stability of the plating solution, resulting in a shorter lifespan of the solution.
Therefore, do not increase the concentration of the plating solution arbitrarily, especially when adding raw materials. Do not add too much. It is best to estimate the consumption of raw materials more accurately based on the plated area or analysis.
