When a customer inquired, they said that in the production process using hard chromium additives, to obtain a hard chromium coating with a certain luster, and the coating should have the characteristics of high hardness, good wear resistance and excellent adhesion, what operational points should be noted?
1. No matter what material the workpiece is made of, it needs to undergo heat treatment. This is because the time for hard chromium plating on the workpiece is relatively long, resulting in a thicker coating, greater internal stress, and higher hardness. At this point, the thermal expansion coefficients of the base metal and chromium differ significantly. If hard chromium is plated without heat treatment, the base metal is prone to thermal expansion and peeling.
2. The hangers should be made of materials that do not dissolve in chromic acid solution and will not undergo chemical reactions. The fixture should have sufficient cross-sectional area and maintain good electrical conductivity; otherwise, during the production process, phenomena such as large current, increased cell voltage, and local overheating may occur.
3. During the rack plating production, the Angle at which the workpiece is suspended should be taken into account to facilitate the escape of gas and prevent the occurrence of gas bag phenomenon, which may result in local areas having no coating or uneven coating thickness.
