How to extend the service life of trivalent chromium zinc plating passivator?
To extend the lifespan of the passivator, the first step is in the aspect of degreasing. Degreasing is a crucial step in the passivation process. Only when the workpiece is thoroughly degreased can the quality of the passivating film on the zinc coating of the workpiece be guaranteed. The reason why degreasing is placed at the forefront is that many customers consider this issue as a minor one and do not pay attention to it. However, what they don't realize is that during degreasing, the concentration, time, and temperature must be strictly carried out in accordance with the requirements for processing.
Secondly, regarding the rinsing process, there are several points to note: whether the water used is purified or tap water, and the pH level. Typically, the pH in the rinsing tank should be maintained between 6.5 and 7.5. This range offers relatively stable pH conditions. After washing, allow 30 seconds for water to drip off before transferring to the passivation tank. Once passivation is complete, perform another rinse to thoroughly remove residual passivation solution from the workpiece. The pH for this final rinse should be below 6.5.
Another step is baking. The temperature should be maintained at around 80 degrees. Even at high temperatures, it should not exceed 120 degrees to avoid any malfunctions.
