Four reasons for poor adhesion when applying electroless nickel plating to aluminum workpieces

When electroless nickel solution is applied to aluminum workpieces, sometimes the adhesion between the workpiece base material and the electroless nickel layer is relatively poor. What is the reason for this?

1. Poor pretreatment of aluminum workpieces before electroless nickel plating. The processes of degreasing, etching and zinc deposition should be strictly controlled to ensure that the workpiece has a uniform zinc deposition layer as much as possible and that the deposited electroless nickel layer has good adhesion.

2. The temperature fluctuation of aluminum workpieces during the deposition of electroless nickel is relatively large. The electroless nickel plating solution should be controlled to fluctuate within a smaller temperature range, or a constant temperature device should be installed.

3. When aluminum workpieces are placed in the bath, the temperature of the electroless nickel plating solution is relatively low. The workpiece can be placed in the bath only when the electroless nickel plating solution is heated to the working range.

4. The electroless nickel plating solution is contaminated by impurities. 1-2g/L activated carbon can be added to treat the plating solution and filtered to remove impurities.
