After preparing a plating solution with alkaline galvanizing additives, why does the plated layer appear to be darkened, fogged, or partially blackened?
Low purity of chemical materials
a. Zinc oxide is produced by different manufacturers due to different sources of raw materials, and the quality varies greatly. In the production of zinc oxide, some electroplating factories use recycled raw materials to produce it, so that some metal oxides with low melting points (e.g., lead) will be mixed into it and carried into the plating solution. Therefore, we recommend production with pure zinc.
b. Industrial-grade sodium hydroxide, with lower purity, contains a large number of steel and iron impurities, which are brought into the plating solution and cause contamination by heterogeneous metal impurities.
