Description :

   BC-20 is an alkaline compound specially designed for cleaning and biting aluminum. It provides a good biting surface for subsequent polishing, anode or chrome coating processes.

   BC-20 has four obvious signs: 1 ) the largest bite; 2 ) not too many bubbles; 3 ) no alkaline spray; 4 ) no sludge or residue accumulation.

   BC-20 is a balanced alkaline etching agent that can provide uniform and good bite corrosion in the shortest time.

   Cleaning ability

   Although BC-20 has a good ability to remove oil stains, pre-cleaning is necessary in most cases to ensure uniform biting. The amount of etched metal can be controlled by operating conditions such as temperature, time, and concentration.

   In order to ensure uniform biting, the temperature, time and concentration must be constant.

   Foam characteristics

   The foam produced during the biting process disappears soon after the workpiece leaves the solution.

Cycle process :

Analysis steps :

   BC-20 analysis method

   Analysis of aluminum etchant             

   (A) 1. Use a pipette to transfer 10 mls of cold BC-20 to a 250 ml conical flask;             

   2.   Add about 50 mls of pure water and 3-5 drops of phenolphthalein indicating agent;

   3.   Titrate with 0.5N HCI until the pink color disappears;

   4.   Record the number of ml consumed by 0.5N HCI titration .

   (B) 1. Add 30 mls of 10% KF solution. If the pink color no longer appears , there is undissolved aluminum in the bath . Use calculation method 2 .             

   2. If the pink color appears, reset the burette to zero and titrate with 0.5N HCI until the pink color disappears.             

   3.   Repeat steps B 1 and B 2 ( without zeroing ).  If the pink color does not appear within 30 seconds, no further titration is required. If pink appears, continue titrating. Record the 0.5N HCI ml consumed in step B titration .

   Calculation :

   1. BC-20 concentration (oz/gal) = ( ml number in step A titration x 0.42)-( ml number in step B titration x 0.15)  

   1. Dissolved aluminum (g/L) = the number of ml titrated in step B x 0.45

   1. Sodium aluminate (oz/gal) = dissolved aluminum (oz/gal) x 3.04
